Basic Principles of Heat Treatment for Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys 

Solution quenching treatment: Heat-treatable aluminum alloy materials are heated to a relatively high temperature and held for a certain period to allow the second phase or other soluble components in the material to fully dissolve into the aluminum matrix, forming a supersaturated solid solution. This supersaturated solid solution is then rapidly cooled to room temperature, resulting in an unstable high-energy state where solute atoms may precipitate at any time. However, the material exhibits high plasticity at this stage, enabling cold working or straightening processes. 

a. Online Quenching: For alloy materials with low quench sensitivity, the high temperature during extrusion can be utilized for solution treatment, followed by quenching via air cooling (T5) or water mist cooling (T6) to achieve the desired microstructure and properties. 

b. Offline Quenching: For alloy materials with high quench sensitivity, they must be reheated in a dedicated heat treatment furnace to a relatively high temperature and held for a specific duration. They are then quenched in water or oil within a transfer time of no more than 15 seconds to obtain the required microstructure and properties. Depending on the equipment, this process can be categorized into salt bath quenching, air quenching, vertical quenching, or horizontal quenching.

Temperature Control: It employs a microcomputer program to automatically control the temperature with high precision, executing the annealing process curve.

Key Configurations

The box type annealing furnace is divided into high temperature furnace, medium temperature furnace and low temperature annealing furnace. The high temperature furnace is within 1200℃, the medium temperature furnace is within 950℃, and the low temperature annealing furnace is within 650℃, respectively
